We soon realized that there were dozens of choices and it would take a very long time to explore them. So, we decided to do the work for you and put all that home exchange information in one, easy to use place.

I made my first home swap at the tender age of seventeen. I was an exchange student at a German university living in a small room in a student housing facility in Muenster. I was contacted through the international student travel agency by a couple of British students rooming at similar digs at the University of London campus in Surrey. They were looking for a place to trade over spring break and we made the deal (this was long before email) by letters and one quick phone call. Since then I have traded countless times over nearly forty years on six out of the seven continents.

I came into the home exchange world via Joe. I have traveled extensively, to such far flung places as Kyrgyzstan and Moscow. Being a naturally thrifty person, when Joe suggested trying a home exchange to Paris, I jumped at the chance. The experience was wonderful; two weeks in the middle of the Latin Quarter in a one bedroom apartment. I loved learning the neighborhood and becoming a regular at the local bar. I was hooked! We are now planning another home exchange to Florence. These trips would not be possible without home exchange.
